» 1) Call of Duty: World at War Released |
|
Nov 11, 2008 - 6:54 PM - by RGC DRIFTER FV
|
The highly anticipated Call of Duty: World at War was released today for Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 2 and 3, Windows PCs, and Nintendo DS.
Deviating from the popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the latest installment of Call of Duty returns the series to its roots by taking gamers back to World War II. Following the U.S. Marines in the Pacific campaign, Call of Duty: World at War, players will experience swamps, beach invasions and tropical undergrowth as they go head to head with one of the most brutal enemies of the war. The European campaign will feature uncompromising and vicious battles as the Red Army pushes into the heart of Berlin.
Call of Duty: World at War introduces gamers to a franchise-first, four-person cooperative gameplay, which will certainly be well-received by gamers. In addition, gamers will be pleased to learn that the improved multiplayer serves up new enemy tactics, perks, weapons (such as a flamethrower), and vehicle missions for online warfare. Perhaps most importantly, the game was built on the same engine as the award-winning Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, so gamers are sure to enjoy the latest title of the Call of Duty series.

» 2) Gears of War 2 Released |
|
Nov 11, 2008 - 7:31 PM - by RGC DRIFTER FV

For the four of you that have been locked in your room and cut of from society (until now since you’re obviously reading this), Marcus Fenix is back! On November 7, 2008, Epic released Gears of War 2 for Xbox 360.
In keeping with the award-winning original, Gears of War 2 returns players to a world in which they must fight the Locust Horde. This time around, however, be prepared to face newer, stronger, and just plain uglier foes. But fear not -- players will have new friends and weapons at their disposal to go along with a trusty chainsaw-equipped assault rifle.
Without giving away too much of the storyline, in Gears of War 2, the home-field advantage belongs to the Locusts, as the COG leaders have decided to take the battle underground. And while this may be a tactically questionable decision, fans of the third-person-shooter genre should embrace the non-stop action in these scenarios as combat takes place in dimly lit caves, on top of wide-open mountain ranges, and over bodies of water.
Epic also improved the multiplayer by fixing world-famous glitches, adding the ability to enter matches as parties, and including new game modes. The best of these new modes is Horde, in which you and up to four other online players must fight off wave after wave of blood-thirsty Locusts. After each successive swarm, you have a few seconds to restock your ammo before the next wave attacks. Horde distills the best qualities of Gears of War into a concentrated mixture of manic action, strategy, and teamwork.
All told, Gears of War 2 will likely be a favorite with all those who enjoy destroying hordes of ugly enemies Texas chainsaw massacre-style. For more information, visit http://www.gearsofwar.xbox.com.
